Basement Entry Doors

Basement Entry Doors

Doors are very important in every building, in every room, and even in many of our appliances.? Doors serve as a security or protection from anyone and from anything that would invade your privacy or could harm you. Also, it will protect you from natural forces such as the weather and other elements in the surroundings. This article will help you install a door into your cement wall in your basement. Basements or cellars should have doors as well, because it is where you keep your old stuff, your broken appliances, there you can see the cables and tubes and pipes that are connected in the house, and other things that you are not using anymore. And you wouldn?t want to expose any of that eye-sore sight to your visitors, right? ?Basement entry doors or cellar doors are the much needed solution for many home owners and businesses.

So, here are the steps of putting a door for your basement. Since you have a concrete wall on the side of the opening for your door, you have to make pressure treated studs on both sides before you can start installing the basement door/cellar door. Note that the Home Depot said that code requires that any lumber touching concrete must be pressure treated, including the wall studs. Place the pressure treated studs on the concrete where you will be placing your door to make sure that it is in correct level (you can use a level for accuracy purposes) and that it was cut correctly for its size. Then drill (using your hand drill) the stud until you can reach the concrete. Drill about three (3) holes to have a tight and secure wall stud. Now have a test whether the door fits perfectly on the opening. Put the door in and see if the door opens and closes just fine and if there is a wide gap or not. If it fits perfectly, you can start screwing the door on to the wall stud. If it doesn?t fit just fine, make adjustments in the wall stud or on the door sides. After screwing, take a few steps away from it and take a good look of your new door in your basement.
